About Miss Jane..."Austin's Favorite Wine Guru"
Jane A. Nickles is the owner of WineSpeak 101 and the wine instructor
at the Texas Culinary Academy. "Miss Jane", as her students call her,
is the author of “WineSpeak 101” (published by Amazon.com), regular
wine columnist for Eat and Drink Austin Magazine, and wine writer for

Miss Jane teaches two classes at Clifford’s Original Wine Bar, the
Original Wine Basics Class and the Original Wine Club Class. If you’ve
never taken any of Miss Jane’s classes, then the Wine Basics is for
you, once you’ve “graduated” from this introductory class, you are
welcome to take the monthly Original Wine Club Classes, which are held
monthly and take on a unique variety of topics.
All classes are $25 per person, which includes six wines
with food pairings. Classes must be prepaid in full one week before the
class date to ensure your reservation.

"Zin
Din"
Here are
Clifford’s we take our wine tasting where other clubs fear to
tread! I’m talking rich, spicy, dark red Zinfandel paired up with
one of our famous pot lucks!
Zinfandel has the body, the flavor, and the complexity to stand up to
the richest, spiciest, most intense food flavors on earth; it’s even
the quintessential BBQ red!
So, if you would like to bring a dish, Miss Jane suggests anything
spicy, smoky, grilled, blackened, or barbequed. Beef and pork
work great with Zin, but so does chicken, turkey, sausage and duck, and
there is extra credit for anyone attempting mole! For your side dishes
think rice, black beans, fresh tomatoes, sun-dried tomatoes, black
olives, eggplant, mushrooms, zucchini, green beans, spinach, olive oil,
and fresh herbs. For those of you bringing dessert, make it
chocolate, chocolate, or chocolate.
Miss Jane will pair up your fabulous creations with some delectable
Zins chosen especially for the occasion, and as we sip, spoon, and
slurp, we’ll learn just why – and how – Zin is such an amazing partner
for food.

(Since the "Zin Din" is an optional pot luck, you'll
only pay $20 if you bring a dish)
